Jay Fair is having a standout season for Auburn. The sophomore wide receiver from Dallas is Auburn's leader in receiving yards and receptions with 284 and 28 respectively. He is tied for the second-most touchdown catches on the team with two.

Auburn has picked up two wins in a row but travels to Fayetteville, Ark. this week for an important game against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tigers would clinch bowl eligibility with a win.

What did Fair have to say ahead of the matchup?

Fair caught a 23-yard pass that set Auburn up to score in its win over Vanderbilt. Fair talked about the play.

"It was kind of a broken play at the beginning," Fair said. "I had some mixed signals going on. It was kind of a scramble play at the end so I was just in the right place at the right time."

Auburn's receivers dropped a considerable amount of passes against Vanderbilt. Fair did not drop one but elaborated on the issue.

"I think as receivers we make a lot of the harder catches," Fair said. "Just a lack of focus on the catches that we don't make. It hasn't been a thing that we've emphasized because as a group we feel a lot of confidence in ourselves. I'm sure this week there will probably be more of an emphasis on it."

Fair discussed developing a rhythm with quarterback Payton Thorne now that he is firmly in possession of the primary role.

"I do believe that more rhythm will occur now that we have one quarterback in the game consistently," Fair said. "The flow will be more consistent as it was in the last game that we played."

The receivers have been making more plays consistently in recent games and Fair is no exception.

"For sure," Fair said when asked if confidence plays a factor in making big plays. "I think as we've gotten back to the temp that we run, I feel like more of those plays that we're making will build up confidence for sure."
