Report: Chargers opening 21-day window for WR Josh Palmer
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are opening the practice window for wide receiver Joshua Palmer, NFL Network reported on Wednesday.

Palmer, 24, has been nursing a knee injury and was placed on IR on Nov. 6. Opening the practice window gives the Chargers 21 days to fully activate Palmer to the 53-man roster.

The third-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Palmer has 23 receptions for 377 yards and one touchdown in seven games this season. In 40 career games (20 starts), he's notched 128 receptions for 1,499 yards and eight touchdowns.

He reportedly could return as early as Sunday's home matchup against the Denver Broncos. The Chargers (5-7) could use his help in their injury-prone receiving corps.

Palmer's absence has been felt as first-round pick Quentin Johnston has yet to be a consistent performer in his debut season. Jalen Guyton returned after an ACL tear that knocked him out for more than a year and has six receptions for 50 yards with one touchdown.
