'Going after best player in the world is fun!' Anthony Edwards gives Nikola Jokic his flowers after dropping 43 points
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Despite being highly competitive on the court, Anthony Edwards never fails to praise his great opponents off the court. Ant-Man gave a tough time to former MVP Nikola Jokic with his 43-point performance in game 1. However, the star also gave credit where it was due in the press conference.

Nikola Jokic was close to scoring a 32-point triple-double against the Minnesota Timberwolves. But his performance got overlooked by Anthony Edwards‘ sheer dominance in the Denver Nuggets loss. However, Ant-Man himself did not miss the opportunity to praise the Joker after the duo went head-to-head on Saturday.

Going against the best player in the world is always fun. Going against the best team in the world is always fun. Like I said, man, they're well coached, they're disciplined, they're not gonna beat themselves. Anthony Edwards at the post-game presser

With Jokic and the Nuggets, Edwards also praised the T-Wolves teammates and the team’s coaching staff. Even if the players’ numbers were far from Edwards’, Karl Anthony Towns and Mike Conley were a tremendous help in the win, especially in the third quarter.

The Timberwolves have started their second round of playoffs on a great note considering it is their first in a long time. Defeating the talented and well-coached team of the reigning champions is not an easy task. However, the team needs to stay consistent and may have to do even better in the next games, as the Nuggets will certainly try and give a hard time to tie the series.

Anthony Edwards says the series against the Nuggets will be a war

The Denver Nuggets have one of the best rosters in the current NBA which led them to the championship last year. Despite not being on the same level as they were in the last season, it is a bad idea to count them out in a playoff series. Edwards knows that better as the T-Wolves were defeated by the Nuggets in the first round of 2023.

Despite winning the first game of the series, Edwards acknowledged the tough competition. Ant-Man in the press conference paid respect to Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Michael Porter Jr. The star described the second round as a ‘fight’.

We come here and know it’s going to be a war and we just play within the game, stay within the game. Anthony Edwards at the post-game presser

The Nuggets had a comparatively mediocre performance in game 1 but only lost by seven points. The team certainly knows how to make a comeback as they do not let one or two losses bother them. Therefore, the team is highly likely to come out stronger in the next game.
