Drew Commesso will have another shot at winning gold for the United States men’s hockey team.

The Chicago Blackhawks goaltending prospect was among 25 players named to U.S. men’s hockey team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics on Thursday. Frank Seravalli and Chris Peters of Daily Faceoff first reported the news.

Commesso made 23 saves in a 3-2 win against Slovakia in Team USA’s lone game at the 2022 World Junior Championship. The Boston University sophomore was the Americans’ starting goalie before the tournament’s cancelation due to COVID-19 concerns.

Commesso is 8-7-3 with a 2.67 goals-against average and .907 save percentage in 19 games this season for the Terriers.

Goalies Strauss Mann (SHL Skelleftea) and Pat Nagle (AHL Lehigh Valley) also made Team USA’s roster alongside Commesso.

With the NHL and IIHF not allowing NHL-contracted players to participate in the Olympics, college players like Commesso have the chance to be on the team. If Commesso accepts his spot on the team, he will miss a significant portion of the season for BU.
