The Atlanta Falcons have signed third-round draft pick Lamar Holmes, an offensive tackle from Southern Mississippi, to a four-year contract.
With Tuesday's deal with Holmes, the Falcons have signed five of their six draft picks. Only defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi remains unsigned.

Heat turned up on Falcons' offensive line
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. On a sun-splashed May afternoon in the hills of North Georgia as the temperature hovered around 80 degrees, Falcons second-round draft pick Peter Konz could not believe how hot he was.
A Wisconsin native who played at the University of Wisconsin, the offensive lineman came to Falcons rookie camp from temperatures of below 50 degrees.
The poor Badger hasnt even...

Tackling Some Chat with Atlanta Falcons DT Corey Peters
Recently I had the opportunity to talk with Atlanta Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters. He was featured in an NFL documentary film titled “Late Rounders”, that focused on some of the players in the 2010 draft who were not considered to be in the elite first or second round category. Corey and I talked about the Falcons 2012 off-season, his experience coming through...

Checking in on Falcons Rookie Camp (Day 2)
Peter Konz, Charles Mitchell, Bradie Ewing and Matt Hanson were among the names that made some noise during day one of the Atlanta Falcons rookie camp on Friday. When asked about day two, Mike Smith said it was too early to call out any standouts but said that he liked the overall energy. Let's take a look around the web at some of the guys who garnered press in day two:
Massaquoi...

Matt Ryan hits the gym
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is trying to achieve something that has eluded him since the start of his NFL career: win a playoff game. So he’s been hitting the gym with a vengeance to work on his arm strength. “I think we’re off to a good start,” said Ryan. “It’s weight training, getting in there and training with weights. It’s learning to condition...

Falcons' Smith likes leaner version of Massaquoi
As a junior at Troy, Jonathan Massaquoi weighed about 260 pounds when he led the Sun Belt Conference with 131/2 sacks.
As a senior last season, Massaquoi was up to 275 pounds, and he had only six sacks.
Coach Mike Smith says the Atlanta Falcons were looking for the lighter version of Massaquoi when they selected the defensive end in the fifth round of last month's NFL draft...

Falcons Rookie Camp Darkhorse: Dominique Davis
Yesterday, I featured an undrafted rookie free agent and rookie camp tryout invitee, tight end Aron White, as a possible darkhorse for a roster (or practice squad) spot for the Falcons this season. Today, let's take a look at another position. When we think about the quarterback position for the Falcons we think about stability. Matt Ryan has been solid as a starter. He still...

Roddy White Proves Further Ignorance While Discussing Retired NFL Players and Concussions
Roddy White is one of the most gifted players in the NFL, serving as a top target for Matt Ryan with the Atlanta Falcons. Unfortunately, he is also one of the more outspoken players in the game as well.
While I have no issue with a player speaking their mind, especially when it comes to the game today, White often has a problem with either stepping over the line or contradicting...

2012 Atlanta Falcons Draft Grade
The Julio Jones results draft is what this will be known as from here on out, as the Atlanta Falcons mortgaged their 2012 NFL Draft in order to move up and get a game changer in Jones in the 2011 draft. The results are still TBD, but the immediate outcome was another first round loss by the Falcons where Jones was, well not overly effective, at no fault of his own.
We know my disdain...

Falcons cut Mughelli
The Falcons announced Tuesday that Ovie Mughelli was released from the team. Rumors of Ovie’s eventual departure began the moment the team used a fifth round pick on Bradie Ewing in last month’s draft. Ovie’s release is by no means a surprise, as it was predicted as a possibility way back in January on this site, but it is unfortunate given the timing. Per the AJC...

Falcons release Ovie Mughelli, hand starting job to rookie Bradie Ewing
The Atlanta Falcons released veteran fullback Ovie Mughelli, paving the way for rookie Bradie Ewing to take over the starting role.
Mughelli was coming off a season-ending MCL tear and was due to earn $3M in 2012, so while it’s tough to imagine Ewing immediately filling Mughelli’s shoes, it’s a move that made financial sense.
Ewing was the top-rated fullback on...
