Kemp, Uribe Move to the DL; Sands, Herrera Head to LA
The injury bug continues to hit the Dodgers this past week, with Matt Kemp going on the DL with a strained left hamstring and Juan Uribe also going down with a left wrist injury that seems to be nagging him from last season.
The result is a bunch of newcomers for LA. In place of Kemp, the Dodgers brought up leftfielder Jerry Sands, who in 2011 over 61 games in LA batted .253...

Dodgers make a slew of transactions in the past week
We're getting to that time of the season when players get hurt and roster moves a plenty are made. Most of the time, minor-leaguers are caught in the crosshairs -- and they aren't always promoted to the majors.
In the past week week, the Dodgers have made the following moves:
MLB
Juan Rivera to DL, Scott Van Slyke recalled (May 9)
Jerry Hairston to DL, Justin...

TOOK A BIT OF A TUMBLE
Fan falls over railing in attempt to catch ball
A fan at last night's Dodgers-Diamondbacks game at Dodger Stadium took a roll over the wall along the third base line and landed flat on his back while trying to grab a foul ball. Another example of a grown man, who brings a baseball glove to a game like a ten-year old, and fails spectacularly.
The epic fail added a little levity to the anticipated pitching...

Kemp injury won't derail Dodgers
All those wins that the Dodgers banked in the first six weeks will come in handy now.
The loss of center fielder Matt Kemp, who went on the 15-day disabled list Monday night because of a mild left hamstring strain, is a significant blow -- Kemp and Andre Ethier have combined to drive in 40 percent of the Dodgers' runs.
Still, the Dodgers (24-11) rank third in the National League...

A.J. Ellis An NL All-Star? Um, Hello?
The catcher position was supposed to be the humongous hole in the Dodgers lineup this season. He was supposed to be the biggest weakness, in fact, during the off-season Ned Colletti pulled out all the stops to fix this problem. Colletti explored the trade market, scoured the free agent market, and to his findings, well not many wanted to come to Los Angeles with all the hoopla going...

Kevin Youkilis To The Dodgers? It Could Happen
If Kevin Youkilis can prove he's healthy over the next several weeks, there stands a very good chance that the Dodgers will come knocking on Boston's door. The three time AL All-Star is one of the names already rumored to hit the summer trade block, and it's becoming increasingly probable that one of the leagues top third baseman will be dealt before the July trade deadline...

Los Angeles Dodgers week in review: men with no names
Catcher A.J Ellis (center) is greeted at the plate by James Loney (7) and Bobby Abreu after his three run homer on Sunday. Ellis is putting up All-Star like numbers when compared to other NL catchers.
The Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up the week with five wins in six games thanks to the play of…, er, uhm, gee, if I could just remember their names. Maybe we should call them...

Report: Elian Herrera on his way to the Dodgers
Elian Herrera
Wait, who? Oh, Elian Herrera (I'll give you a few minutes to look him up).
Tony Jackson of ESPN LA tweeted the news tonight:
"I'm told Elian Herrera on his way up. Not sure what it means other than that Gordon probably will move out of leadoff spot"
Not sure what to make of this, other than the Dodgers might be making a rash decision (which...

Dodgers Bring Back Aaron Miles After All
It was just a few months ago, Colletti was on a tear handing out two-year deals to pretty much any player that would take one. I recall after Mark Ellis, Adam Kennedy, and Jerry Hairston were signed, a plea from this guy called out asking why Aaron Miles wasn't brought back? Miles was a key part to the Dodgers success in 2011, coming off one of the best seasons of his career...

Time for Jerry Sands to prove to the Dodgers he can still hit
Jerry Sands
Last year at around this time, Jerry Sands was a Dodger for nearly a month after a blazing start at Triple-A.
Fast forward one year: Sands did not make the club out of Spring Training and has obviously been surpassed by the recently recalled Scott Van Slyke.
Sands came up last season, gave Dodger fans some hope, struggled, was demoted and came back in September...

Dodgers sign Miles to minor league contract
Aaron Miles is back.
The 35-year-old utilityman signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers and is working out at their spring training facility in Arizona.
Miles was a pleasant surprise for the Dodgers last season, when he made the team as a non-roster player. He was forced into a more prominent role than expected because of injuries to the likes of Rafael Furcal, Casey Blake...
