Minnesota Wild slap fans in the face with hiring of Anthony LaPanta
Say cheese(y).Sadly my friends, that is the new face and voice of the Minnesota Wild on Fox Sports North. This morning, it was made official by the Minnesota Wild and Fox Sports North, that Anthony LaPanta was the new play by play broadcaster. LaPanta has been with been with Fox Sports North in various capacities since 2004, and most recently has been the University of Minnesota...

Anthony LaPanta is going to be the play-by-play for the Wild
I posted on the on Sunday, that Michael Russo of the Star and Tribune was reporting on Russo's Rants that Anthony LaPanta was going to be selected to be the play-by-play voice of the Minnesota Wild on FSN. This story kind of went viral - Minnesota Wild fans are not happy with the selection of LaPanta. In fact, it's getting down right ugly and here is a sample of a few of...

LaPanta to be play-by-play for Wild
There are going to be a lot of people that aren't going to be very happy with this move if Anthony LaPanta becomes the voice of the Minnesota Wild - LaPanta did play-by-play for the Gopher this past season and there are a lot of Gopher fans that aren't very fond of his work either. I don't think that LaPanta is a bad announcer per se, but I think the Wild could do better...

Wild announce new ECHL agreement with the Orlando Solar Bears
The minor leagues. When someone hears that term they think of long bus rides, and crappy locker rooms and motels. For hockey fans, the movie Slap Shot also comes to mind, where you think about an increase in fights, strange promotion attempts (the fashion show scene here), and sparse crowds. For the players its tough because no kid grows up with the hopes of playing in the minor...

What should Wild fans take from news of Clayton Stoner's 2-year contract extension
Reading between the lines can be a skill that can be both a blessing and a curse. It can make someone be extra perceptive, almost like a lesser version of Spider Man's 'spider-sense' that allows a person to see beyond the obvious and an anticipate future events or find the underlying motive of an action. Or it can make someone immensely paranoid and neurotic where they...

Wild re-sign D Stoner to two-year extension
Despite an injury prone career, the Minnesota Wild felt that defenseman Clayton Stoner is important enough to factor into their future plans.
Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher announced Tuesday that the club has re-signed Stoner to a two-year contract extension.
Stoner, 27, missed 32 games in 2011-12 with a myriad of injuries, but still led the team's defensemen and was third...

Concussions played major role in Wild's slide
ST. PAUL, Minn. The Minnesota Wild unexpectedly surged to the top of the NHL by early December thanks to goaltending, solid defense and timely goals.
The timely goals would disappear during the second-half swoon and were a direct reflection of the loss of top-six forwards Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Guillaume Latendresse to concussions. Now, entering an important offseason for the...

Wild wrap season, determined to turn page
ST. PAUL, Minn. Left to talk about missing the playoffs for the fourth straight season, Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu summarized the disappointment the only way he could.

Trailing 2-1 with 30 seconds left in the game, Erik Christensen tied the game. Then just 15 seconds into overtime, captain Mikko Koivu scored the game-winner to complete the comeback.

OVER BEFORE IT STARTED
Video: Setoguchi falls during shootout attempt
Earlier tonight, Minnesota Wild right winger Devin Setoguchi had one of the moments in life that you would like to forget about. Setoguchi needed to score a goal to continue the Wild's shootout with the Montreal Canadiens. Devin set up and sped towards goaltender Carey Price who got ready to make the save. Price didn't need to do that much as Setoguchi fell prior to attempting the shot:
