TEAMS: Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees
Never has anyone been so happy to go back to the Bronx. Oh my lord, did they make us sweat. I lost 10 years on my life in that ninth. This thing is far from over, boys.
Utley's first inning 3-run jack put the Phillies ahead early and with Cliff Lee on the mound they never looked back. Well, sorta. Yes, things certainly got interesting with the Yankees clawing back but in the end the Phillies got the win.
Charlie handed the ball to Ryan Madson in the ninth needing three outs for the victory with a three run lead and Mad Dog made made our hearts flutter. After giving up a leadoff double to Posada, Matsui ripped a double to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Derek Jeter. Mr. Yankee grounded into a most beautiful 6-4-3 double play. Johnny Damon fought back from being down 0-2 to slap a single, once again bringing the tying run to the plate in Mark Teixiera. Finally, with Teixeira batting, Madson let us breath again by getting the K.
Wow. What a win.
First it was the Babe. Now it's Mr. October. Chase Utley keeps joining the company of legends with his ridiculous performance against the Yankees in this World Series.
Chase's two home runs off of CC Sabathia in game one placed him alongside Babe Ruth as the only lefties to hit two home runs in one World Series game off of a left handed pitcher. After adding two more bombs tonight, Utley's five home runs this series tie him with only Reggie Jackson for the most in a single World Series. Perhaps the greatest thing about Utley's feat this evening is that it gives him another chance to break those records on Wednesday. And, more importantly, win this whole damn thing.
The Phillies are one win closer to another World Series title. You gotta BeLEEve. [video below]

What's up with Howard this series???
-
I know man, he hasnt done anything yet! hopefully he will when we really need him!
-
I said Yankees in 6, but man you could hear the assholes tighten up at Citizens Park in the 9th lastnight. Another outstanding performance by Cliff Lee however.

Great performance once again from Lee. Gotta give him credit. I didn't think that Burnett would be as sharp on 3 days rest. But let's win it New York. GO YANKEES!

Hey buddy, it sucks about Melky getting injured. Now I just wish Gardner would take the damn bat off his shoulder and swing. But I have to admit, that was a hell of a catch he made in left center. If the fillys did not add on those last tack on runs this series would already be over. Enjoy the game tomorrow night.

Too bad A-Rod didn't make it to the plate.
