Pat's.

pat's and geno's are commercial jokes, to much money, to bland of taste, and half the size of a real cheesesteak. give me a local shop any day of the week!

if i absolutely had to choose between just those three thou, id go with pat's.. just make sure im drunk!

anyone here besides me question whether or not the poster of this article is from philly or not based on the tourist trap places suggested?

better try ishkabibbles south street

ishkabibbles are known more for their chicken cheesesteaks.

jims on south street

Jim's was good although I don't have much to compare it to. Was just in the area and tried it.

Not enough cheese on Jim's.

usually dry as sand too (over cooked)

very true.

Sorry, didn't have anything to compare it to. I was too busy running from Eagles fans with guns and machetes to try the other ones.

u know those r smack thread startin words there fiver.........

Jim's hands down!

jim's steaks are TERRIBLE unless you're talking about the original jim's way the hell out in west philly. i made the trip a few times during my undergrad days at upenn. if you're brave enough to go, it's at 431 N. 62nd st.

franks pizza in east falls makes the best cheesesteak in my opinion. But from the three i'd take tony luke

i agree with what phillyfan said....both times he said it.

Dalessandro's, hands down. Have had all the rest, and none are close. Geno's & Pat's, waht tourist traps!

Dalessandro's, on henry, is the Sh!t !! best rolls and plenty of syeak and cheese

south jersey has the best..its a tie between
sugar hill subs, and jojos italian resturant

i'll go to south jersey for a philly cheesesteak when monkeys fly outta my ass. jager bombs!

i guess he missed the PHILLY cheese steak part.

Jim's or Pat's no questions asked! haha

As someone who was only in Philly briefly, I never had an official Philly cheese steak. I've had imitation Philly cheese steaks in other cities and states but never the real deal. It's my official favorite sandwich and it looks like you can't really go wrong at any of these places listed. Good to know. Thanks!

Ask Andy Reid. He looks like he could recommend a good one.

LOL we all know big red can!

Pat's ftw. Geno's steaks taste like dirt.

Sorry about the multiple comments. I hope this doesn't post ten times.

It did. Now you are officially barred from YB.

Thanks fiver . I should have never said anyting. No one would have noticed.

Did anyone say Larry's, home of the belly filler?

I like Pats out of the 3 above, but I agree with a few other posts, theres a few "hole in the wall" type places in the south that are off the hook....

Jared.........I thought you didn't eat anywhere but Subway!!! Oh, sorry. Wrong Jared. Have a good one.

hahaha...Im "open minded"

What are they?

jason, i've posted all over this thread! check them out! all real philly ppl (sorry mainliners, but you just don't get it) know what i'm talkin' about!

oh my God. no offense but i cant believe anyone likes pats. those of you who like pats need to explain to me why, because i think its the absolute nastiest cheesesteaks and theyre the most disrespectful along with geno's as well.
i think steve's prince of steaks n chinks steaks blow them out in the dust.

yea neither pats or genos is that great.. i finally had steves the other day, was not impressed at all with theirs either.. the steak slapped on a roll without being chopped up is like eating a steak-um. only good thing about steves is they literally do smother it with cheese

they are both terrible food and service. geno's has the sign that says the wont serve you unless you order in english, and i will share with you an anecdote about a trip i had to pat's one night...

long ass line as per usual, i was 2nd in line finally, and my brother and i were behind 2 middle-aged asian women who i'm being generous by saying their command of the english language was less than stellar. anyway, they couldn't articulate what they wanted, so the guy at the window said, "OK! ENOUGH! THIS AIN'T BENIHANA'S! YOU GET 2 WIZZ WIT!"

i'm far from politically correct most of the time, but this seriously made my jaw drop!

It's really good with american cheese..

i think the only reason anybody would like pats or genos is cuz all their customers that go there are drunk n when ur drunk everything tastes good.

ray - its all about the relish and the cheeze whiz

relish???????????? ur killing a cheesesteak there mannn

I'd pay big bucks for Pat's right about now.

if i was drunk, and everyone else was closed id pay the money

Just remember that you're debating the best cheese steak in Philly. The rest of the country would probably like to have at least the worst cheese steak in Philly because it's probably bettter than anything they have. I don't care what place I go to. When I do go to Philly in the fall I will post my own reviews which I'm looking forward to and finally eating a real Philly Cheese Steak in Philly where these posts belong.

Out of the above three, i like Tony Lukes, if you go to the outside shop. i personally think the ones from phillies games are garbage. Plus i love the taste of when they just go out back and piss and dont wash there hands. kidding. Anyone here go to Rays?

Originally from Philadelphia, I now live in Hawaii, I am so jealous of the cheesesteak jive right now. I know Geno's and Pat's are a bit touristy, but when I'm home I like to stop by Geno's eat a cheesteak and cheese fries of course washed down with a cherry Pepsi. Then walk across the street, get a cheesesteak at Pat's (compare and be fair, of course). Then head down to Front St. and stop at Tony Lukes and switch it up and grab a pork sandwich w/ broccolli rabe to take home and munch on at half time. The good old days....and no I'm not 300lbs....

roast pork, broccolia rabe, with the sharp provolone at tony lukes! (if you have to choose between the others.. pats!)

try the eggs and longhots, too. YUMMMMM!

i'd take the same sandwich ANYDAY from Old Original Nick's Roast Beef (notice i said "Old Original" that's important!!)

tony luke's is a joke. they tried opening up a store on the upenn campus @ 37th and spruce and the place tanked within a year bc the food was so all over the place and awful.

sad thing is i lived right down the street from that upenn store, and NEVER even knew it was there, when i heard about them i was like whatever theres been no tony lukes up here

yeah, the food was really bad, even compared to their other locations. just wasnt the same quality

I like the original TL's. But the place across the st.(the bar) the food sux.
But now that you mentioned Nick's....the BEST RB sandwich! Okay, now I'm hungry.

HELL YES!
