New features help clean up the Yard

good move!, will help a lot with most of us straight ups on here ...groovy...and hey you guys, isn't it good to be yourself, just 1 dude/dudette on here, taking that occasional "fun schrapnel" without hiding...and something needs to be done about uncalled for thumbs down, when someone makes pretty much in the middle comment, trying to talk about a topic normally, and gets dogged because your is from this place or that place...thumbs down; I use them rarely and justifiably at times...just feedback, but something down the line your crew might consider, as I realize it's impossible to screen every daily article due to manpower...whew, good start yo's

If you block a user they can not thumbs down any comments you have left on the site or reply to your comment.

I hear ya bro, my issue was when we all make good points and get dogged, but yeah, that feature helps a lot

It's a good day, and thanks to everyone for your patience as the Yardbarker team built this feature.... so if some clown in the Yard is harassing you, just block him! We'll continue to build out these features, too. In the meantime, go hard for the Yard.

is their a way you can see who gives you negatives...cuz some dude seriously who has no life...has gone through most the articles ive commented in recent days and given me negatives...Let alone the fact everyone else negatives...

would be cool, theres a lot of good people on here who get thumbs down for no reason

There's not a way to do that currently, but there is a thumbs-down solution in the works. Trust me when I say we're aware of the problem, and we agree generally that it's annoying when people just thumbs-down everything a person writes (usually because they don't like that person or don't like the teams for which they cheer). It's on the list. A solution will happen.

Hey Yard,
Friendly neighborhood engineer here. I have a few things I want to say, the first of which is Thank You. Seriously, from the bottom of my heart, thank you guys for sticking it out with us and helping us become what we are today. Its been a crazy ride to come to where we are today, and alot of people say to me "oh it must be so cool to hang out with pro athletes and have the access you do".. and all I can reply with is "Ya thats cool, but its the people we got in the yard that are the sole reason I enjoy coming to work everyday".

Second topic... I know the privacy features took longer than expected, but the reason behind it was in building the proper framework for supporting these features which was just never in place before. We could have added in a few days the ability to keep a user from commenting on your articles but then we'd have to do just as much work to keep a user from sending you a message. This type of engineering would only lead to a bogged down, slow, mess of a site after some time. The way we built this out is to give us the ability to keep rolling out new features as we see them needed in a fraction of the time. On top of all of that we've added some rock-star engineers to our ranks so new features will be coming out of the yard on a much more rapid pace.

Third... In response to NBAFAN22, profiles are getting *major* loving.
