Game Week, baby!

What's good everybody? As always, I hope you guys had great weekends and got to spend some time with your families on Mothers Day. It was my first Mothers Day in a very long time not being around my mother, not too sure I liked it too much! I miss my family a lot, but they are all flying out this weekend to Denver for the first game!

We had a little scrimmage in Denver last weekend, just to get up and down the field against another team before starting the season this weekend. Last Saturday after the scrimmage, Mr. Anschutz was nice enough to let us stay at his Eagles Nest Ranch in Denver as a team and we had a great time. Played a little golf, had some GREAT food, played some cards, watched some basketball and just relaxed and kicked it together. The following morning a lot of guys got up and went fishing, skeet shooting, and all that good stuff, but I had to head to the airport to hop a plane to Portland (where I am now). It was a great weekend, and a great way to end training camp.

Well, this Saturday is a day I've been waiting for, for a very long time. It's our opening game against the Denver Outlaws at Invesco field. In our short 3 weeks of training camp, I do believe we've developed great chemistry, and are playing at a very high level together. Clearly, there's always room for improvement, especially this early in the season, but we're heading the right direction.

One of my best friend in the world, Benson Erwin plays for Denver, so it will be nice to get back out on the field and compete against him. We went grade school, middle school, high school, and eventually off to Hopkins together, so it's nice for this whole thing to come full circle and us to be back out on the field again at the professional level. In our league, Denver draws the largest crowds, so it will be an incredible atmosphere.

I shot a few video's at the ranch that are being edited now, so I'll toss those up in a day or two. You can see how TERRIBLE my golf swing is. I think my boy mentioned it in the video, but I've gotten an award before for the worst golfer to ever play at this course in Southern California. Now, in my opinion, that's not even right, how are you even going to have an award like that? Messed up.

Anyway, that's all I got for now. Need to get up and get a work out in and get the day started.

Oh yeah, got a question, who's going to have the song of the summer? What artist? Every summer somebody comes out with a catchy song that more or less defines the summer and is played over and over and over again. Who's coming out with it? I've got my vote, but I'm holding on to it for now.

Have a GREAT Monday,

KH

Oh yeah, and watch out for my boys at Hopkins, looks like they may be peaking at the right time...

The Roots just released a new album, which I haven't heard but I suspect has at least one great song worthy of being a summer classic. With regard to the lacrosse playoffs, I gotta go with Syracuse. Sorry, JHU!

PS: Quality imitation of Annika Sorenstam.

Yup, Roots album is hot for sure. Not too sure which song can be considered a summer classic yet, but good call. As for Cuse, I won't hold it against ya my man, they are definitely an exciting team to watch.

I would have to say something from Lil Wayne with his new album out. or another smash hit from Lupe Fiasco. With regards to the playoffs, hats off to OSU. When your goalie starts the scoring 30 seconds into teh game, you knew it was over for Cornell.

Clearly you know I'm always up for some Weezy. Not too sure if he's ever had a summer banger before that completely dominates the radio/clubs/etc. I bet he could do it though. Lupe is a good candidate as well. As for that Goalie scoring, that was out of control, and yeah, it was definitely going to be a long day for Cornell after that...

For the song: i would have to say Kanye West, or at least i hope it will be him, because i really like his songs

Yup, Kanye will always get it done.

P.S. GO HOPKINS!!!

I appreciate the good luck wishes, I can't wait. My boys over at Hop are ready to go man, I'm excited to watch them this weekend.

Hey good luck on your game man. I just had a couple of questios to ask you. Well let me start off by saying that im going to be a junor this comng fall, andthe summer is right around the corer. I love playing lacrosse so much, and plan on really working hard this summer to become a better player. I plan on hiting the gym and doin that workout you did in the video, and then doing the wall drill, and practice my dodging and shooting alot. Any way, just wanted to ask if there are any other drills, or tips you could throw my way to become a better player? And does it sound like i'm heading in the right diretion to become a better player?

Thanks for writing buddy, and great questions. For one, scratch doing what I did in that video. That video was shot a few years ago as just a warm up work out, so lets not do that one. Go to NIke.com and check out the different SPARQ work outs. At this point, it's all about become faster, quicker, more powerful, more explosive, and SPARQ will help you to do that. Make sure after these work outs, your taking time to stretch and then getting right into shooting. You sound like your on the right path to me my man, so keep me updated.

Are you coming to see the final four in foxboro? We bought our tickets in October, hoping hopkins would make it.. hopefully they can take out Navy this saturday

hey kyle your team owns and i wish u good luck in your season and keep working hard....STEP UP!

hey kyle again um just to start off saying that im in my lacrosse season as a 13 year old and my team is undefeated and so i was wondering if you could give me a couple of tips on how to be a better player, because im doing pretty well its just that i think that you could give me a couple od steps because you are awsome at lax so just write me back if u can get a chance - thanks
