Boston Celtics Fans Riot After Victory

There are always two things you can count on following a sports championship. A parade and a riot. Boston held its riot after 4-2 series victory over the Los Angeles Lakers for the NBA championship. If this is how Boston acts after the Celtics win the title it’s a good thing the New England Patriots [...] more...

Ugh, so disappointing.

At least nobody died this time.

That's a shame. I figured Boston fans would be like..." Hey, we won another one,(yawn) let's go home".

Just move the team to Camden. No one will care if they burn that city down.

except the people that live there. They might care a little...but if you give them beer they might be ok with it.

Nah, the people that live there try to burn it down themselves every fourth of July.

it was weird, around the garden didn't seem that bad. we could catch a train and everything, the riot cops looked bored.

i guess it was the drunken bar set.

its a jinx to trash your stadium/arena.
Boston knows they can't afford another jinx.

Not a good message....

way to go pinkpanthrr...making a joke out of a horrible accident. im sure the victims family appreciates your humor. the riot police obviously need to be tough to break up these low life drunk losers who feel the need to get violent after every championship. the police should be so proactive that crowds dont even get an opportunity to form and anyone caught starting trouble should be fined heavily and do significant jail time (more then a night). that would send the message to these ignorant drunkards

It is sarcasm. You must be a cop who believes in shooting defensless people with rubber bullets. No prob I retract my sarcastic statement.

I don't condone rioting, I just have been to a concert down at the garden, and the cops like to assert their authority even if there is no riot going on..basically they start sh*t. I don't know about this situation, I have just seen it before.

GeeeeZ cm get a life. Go in time out for 3min.

Leave it to Boston to require marshal law after winning a championship.

Utter disgust. Personally, I'm happy the Celtics took home their 17th NBA title (they deserved it), but rioting has no excuse. Good job to the Celtics, and to the fans, not so much. This kind of behavior sorta takes away the pride and glory of the team.

To some of the fans. Not all of us are idiots throwing things through store windows.

Boston Fans just gave reason #1 to dislike them. Not Cool.

This is a damn shame. I think it would be like that. I bet it was some of those loser fans and Kobe supporters. The only thing that should have been on the Celtics Fans mind should have been...."Now let's party!!!!" Not ............... "Let's start a riot and tear up sh@#!"

Hey Tee Tee.

hey, how you doing?

alot better now!

is a shame, but it happens all the time in a lot of cities over the years...the extra mustard by some posts on here is yet another attack on Boston fans we have grown immune to, as opposed to any other city...but we don't care and look forward to next year...point is that the C's just absolutely murdered LA and 2/3rd's of nation can't deal with it...and team wasn't even 100% healthy, that's the beauty most of all...but, most boston fans wouldn't condone these houligans, but singling out all boston fans is ludicrous and irresponsible...and that's being objective

Man, it was tame last night. The cops kicked everybody out of the Bulfinch Triangle/North Station area in the fourth quarter, unless they were in a bar. Thus, all I basically saw was a bunch of people dancing to street performers under the Government Center Parking Garage. Then again, there were some people banging on the windows of Johnnie's on the Side, which just opened on Merrimac Street. Pick your poison, I guess.

i think the sox riots were way out of hand in comparison to this. i remember walking home during one and being terrified. yesterday? everyone was really nice and not terrifying.

exactly Sambot, and Chicago for another example during the Bulls huge runs, not sure of the two years that city went ballistic though...C's riot: mild is correct relatively to Sox, no doubt bro...86 years of perpetual pain for the fanbase...I can't speak for you, but as a Boston teams fan, I would say to the car scrubs last night, "your all incredibly lame"...side opinion; C's have 1-2 years, and that's it, to make a run for #18...and I will say this for LA, historically, a great franchise I have respect for, who, yup, will be real nasty next year...both teams know everything about who they are on the court 100% now, to the optimum, and that's a wicked advantage over all comers in 09'...someone needs to invent a way to burn the DVR'ed game tapings onto CD's...taped all those mofo's...allright, way off track...yes, there are factions of idiot fans in all cities for sure, and moments of idiocy for all fans, here and there...it's that passion, good and bad kinds

Please, tell us again about Boston's pain of never winning anything. Be sure to take the marbles out of your mouth first so we can all understand you.

marbles out of my mouth, that's funny guy...pretty clear post I see, and yeah Red Sox angst, not all the teams here in Boston, is what I was referring to, which you can't understand as you have no knowledge of that drought as a Sox fan, Hater...I have the high ground, Sir...so, read the entire post before you put words in my mouth

Who wouldn't riot?
It's a celebration B****es!

Well I don't know about everyone else but when that riot happened in 2004 it hit close to home. It was a girl that lived in a small town south of Boston in a house just a minute up to road from me. It hit our town hard and we realized what can happen just from some kids having fun. It's a celebration but going to the point of breaking store windows and stuff is going to get police involved and who knows what can happen next.

I know no one here meant their comments to be disrespectful but that incident in 2004 hit a lot of people harder than you think, it's nothing to joke or be sarcastic about. Sorry to put a downer in here, just something some people should realize.

i went to college with her and remember about a month of the entire school being stunned. we had a BPD media relations guy come in and talk with us for a class - and the situation was considered a "no no" topic. right when everyone wanted answers.

but getting back to the point, last night was nothing like the environment of that alcs victory over the yankees. it didn't even compare in raucousness. kenmore was a zoo of people snapping street signs and lights and trying to break into fenway. the celtics victory was straight up happy folks hugging and yelling about kobe around the garden, all while trying to get a glimpse of the celts leaving. huge difference.

My girlfriend went to jr. high and high school with her in EB. She said that almost nobody they grew up with was shocked that it happened. Supposedly she was just one of those people that found trouble whenever they could.

That's not to say she deserved to die, because nobody does. Just saying..

i think people in school were more freaked that it could have very easily been them.

Yeah it very easily could have been anyone that was there. Horrible :(

the cops looked bored because they didn't get a chance to shoot anyone this time. bummer right? ;)

Lakers had worse riots after winning.

Agreed. They burned and flipped cars and attacked police.

we expect that from them though. ha ha! ;)
