Flop This!! Ginobili Rule Implemented.

At last the NBA is attempting to do something about flopping. I am all for "selling a foul" but there is a fine line between that and the blatant flopping that Vlade Divac perfected in his prime. Currently the title of best flopper has to go to Manu Ginobili but I have to show some love to LeBron for his overacting in this years playoffs.

Signs of the Apocalypse - Baseball considers implementing instant replay for home run calls, and now the NBA will impose fines for flopping. It's all just too...rational...What's next, college football playoffs?

Fabricio Oberto is a far worse flopper than Manu is at this point in his career. He's toned it down quite a bit.

this might be one of the best days of my life. i always thought that refs should be able to give a tech if they catch a flopper though.

one of the most frustrating things in the world is when an opposing player flops and gets the call. this definately means for some better watching next season.

agreed, a fine is not severe enough. a $10,000 fine isn't going to stop a player who makes $10,000,000 a year.
regardless, how much do you think the refs will even deem an "obvious flop"? ginobili might flop 300 times in a season, and they'll only deem 1 or 2 "obvious flops".
im glad they're assessing the problem, but in my opinion, its all part of david stern's plan to shut all of us up.
i can't see the rule having a huge impact...but i can always be hopeful.

I am assuming that it will be done by league review rather than being called by the refs on the spot.

Just deserts -- win by the flop, (almost) die by the flop: Diners Fail to Aide NBA's Most Flagrant Flopper During Life-Threatening Choking Fit

LA lunch crowd assumed Manu Ginobli was trying to "work" maitre'd; others assumed he was auditioning for director Quentin Tarantino who was seated nearby

Paul Pierce has gotten Boston to within 1 game of the finals by acting.

"I am all for "selling a foul" but there is a fine line between that and the blatant flopping" - completely disagree. There isn't a fine line, there's A LOT of gray area.

Fines for flops can't last. Basketball enforces certain rules in a way that make it necessary to exaggerate calls - Ex: if you're in position for a charge you will not get the call unless you fall down. Ex: John Barry is getting killed in the media for not "selling the call" when he was fouled at the end of game 4. You can't tell players that they need to "sell the call" but if he goes too far he will get fined.

The refs just need to do a better job not calling flops…because when you flop you take yourself out of the play and put your team at a disadvantage.

i dunno. i think if you get fouled then you let it show-stupid to hide it. if you get hit hard enough to knock ou down then go ahead and fall-but falling after you barely have been touched is what i consider a flop

who's john barry?

Ummm, the guy's brother who I was talking about. I can't keep track of who's who with dynamic duo's like the Barry's.

god save the queen!! these 2 sapos look like they just had a break up

It's not the floppers' fault that the fouls are getting called. As long as the refs are going to call them, it's going to keep happening. If I knew I was going to get a foul on someone for doing it, then I would be in there with the rest of them.

Well I feel like an idiot, I just posted this article...
