House and Allen to Re-sign With Celtics

According to the Boston Herald, both Eddie House and Tony Allen have agreed to re-sign with the Celtics. I think this is very good news.

Tony Allen and Eddie House are staying in the fold.

According to Danny Ainge, the Celtics have agreed to terms with each on two-year contracts.

Ainge would not be specific on the financial figures, but according to a source, both are being paid in the mid-$2 million range.

In the case of House, the money is roughly half the mid-level exception of $5.585 million.

The Celtics did not have to use any of the mid-level on Allen, because he has been with the club four years and the team thus has his "Bird rights."

Teams are allowed to pay to keep their own free agents who have been with the club three years. Now we need to find a replacement for Posey.

I was hoping that Matt Barnes would be the one, but according to reports he is set to sign a league minimum deal with Phoenix. I am sure Danny has something up his sleeve but not sure what. We still have half the MLE and the LLE and veteran minimum contracts to sign someone and playing for the World Champs has to be a drawing card. But with the re-signing of House and Allen and the signing of O'Bryant, the roster is starting to shape up. There is still that one gaping hold left by Posey though. Maybe Danny has more hope for Walker than we realize.

Good for the Celts, but you know they would have traded in these two for a Posey, anyday.

I am happy to have both players back. The one I am more happy about is Tony Allen. I think Eddie House is a great fit coming off the bench for us, but I think he could of been replaced with Stephon Marbury, who I think would of jumped at the chance if he is bought out by the Knicks. However, this is not going to happen and House is going to give us a solid bench player at PG and even a little at the SG position..

Tony Allen has not done too much but he is someone I wanted to keep because I think after a year away from his injury and a little confidence, he could step up and be a huge defensive presence for us and can score a little as well but his value will come from the defensive end.
