Mehmet Okur needs to learn how to block out

Utah center Mehmet Okur has played pretty well against the Lakers; he's averaging 18 points and 11 boards against L.A., which is a pretty nice jump from his regular season stats. But the guy needs to stop flopping in crunch time and get his team a defensive rebound.

With 1:53 to play and the Lakers leading, 101-100, Okur was positioned for a defensive rebound when Gasol gave him a little shove in the back. Okur, like most international players, overreacted to the contact, trying to draw a foul. The refs didn't bite and Gasol gathered the rebound. The possession eventually ended with a Lamar Odom dunk.

With 0:21 to play and the Lakers leading, 105-102, Okur again had position...

This is why he was cut by the Pistons, not that he can't block out but I just don't think Okur is a crunch time player that is going to get the job done when it counts. He is not clutch and not fundamental. As far as the article goes it sounds like you are a Utah fan that is a bit peeved about his play. Sorry Utah fan it is over see you next ear and thanks for giving us D. Fish back as well! I know he came here for his daughter I just want to rub in the fact that this guy is killing you.

im a laker fan and it is far from over, smack aside this is probably a 7 gamer

I'm with ya on this one. Lakers were lucky to get that win last night. It's going to be a hell of a game 7 if Utah wins the next one at home.

That's why Lamar Odom got that rebound and won the game. He's a big man in size only, a guard at heart.

as lakers13 says didnt he have this problem when he was in DET. he seems to get overwhelmed at times, in other words cant stay focused, not a natural

I'm not a Jazz fan in general, but I like the way they play and am rooting for them in this series. I just hate to see a lack of simple fundamentals cost a team a crucial win.

They definitely blew some good chances last night. The could have won that game and really put the pressure on the Lakers. It's been a good series.

if Utah gets rid of him, they might make it further, he doesnt help them by shooting long distance shots. They also need another guard, someone faster. LESS GO LAKERS!
