Oregon Mentors

So earlier this week i announced the organization that i am gonna be working with. It is Oregon Mentors, which is an organization that gets mentors for kids all around Oregon. It is a really good company its just that there is not alot of people signing up to be mentors. Hopefully with me and the little influence i have we can get more to sign up. We will be starting this slogan called Team Oden. Its a slogan for us to reach the goals of 40,000 mentors by 2010. Lots of things will happen with the partnership i will host events during the summer and through out this year for kids and their mentors, it should be a fun time for all! I want to thank the Commissioner for stopping by my press conference when i had it.

Good looking out, G.O.

G.Ode, you're the right kind of superstar in this league... err... world. Young man, using his power to help others and not just for his own celebrity.

This is the article I wrote about Baron that got a lot run... I have a feeling that men like you and Boom Dizzle are going to set this whole place on fire in the right kind of way. The things you're doing are HUGE, and as you shine, you unknowingly give others permission to shine as well...

Hey Greg, does the organization have a website yet?

Heres the website for Oregon Mentors Team Oden.....http://oregonmentors.org/teamoden
Excellent job Greg! Your a class act!

Hi Greg. I love the idea. Is it kind of like the Big Brother program? By the way, how are you enjoying that cold weather in Milwaukie?

I've been reading your blogs for quite a while, but this one motivated me to create an account and congratulate you. I'm only 21, but i plan on working with underprivileged children for a living, and what you are doing is, in my opinion, the greatest thing in the world. Nobody benefits from help like children, and it's wonderful to see you helping them. It's certainly difficult at times, but if you are like me it will have such a positive impact on your life, as well as theirs, that there could be nothing more worth your time. Any child that works with you is honestly receiving a blessing that nobody else could give them. An athlete and celebrity taking the time to be with them, they will be so proud. Not only that, when they see how down to earth you are, and your high vaule of education, you will have made a such a huge impact on their lives.

seriously... thank you

Youre the man Greg, keep up the good work it all comes back around.

Greg, thats awsome your getting involved in your community! I have been a mentor for 5 years and I love it, sometimes I think about changing my career to do it full time.
You really seem like a great guy and I hope once you start becoming an all-star next year you don't lose that humble side.

I didn't like Greg Oden before. For some reason, I just didn't like him or Ohio State. After reading your posts man, I've become a fan and I think you are a good guy. It's easy to judge a book by it's cover, but the your post have showed me that you are down to earth guy with a good heart. Keep it up man.

Thats great Greg! What's up with Obama? I can't believe he didn't kick Hills hind end in Texas.

no worries - - - Obama is less than 500 delgates within having sufficient votes to win the nomination, while Clinton is 600 delegates away

aint what u get but what u give.............spread the positivity GO

Thanks, bucknut.

no problem!

check out the website oregonmentors.org/teamoden

I was going to mention you didn't leave a link, haha guess I just have to read the comments? Thanks for the link. I'll help spread the word as I'm sure everyone will so you can reach your goal of 40,000.

yo thank greg i want to join but how do i do that im kinda having trouble well thanks anywey for the link.

You da man G.O. Thanks for helping bring Rip City back to Portland. I can't wait tell you're out on the court next year with ROY and L.A.

Nice work, GO. It's things like this that will make you a welcome sight in a Blazers uniform for ever, in addition to the things you bring to the court (and the things you DONT bring off the court).

I read your blog all the time, even though I don't comment very often. I think you are a fantastic young man. I don't even think you realize how great of a thing you are doing for all the kids out there. It is so nice to see that your money and fame haven't changed your heart. Your mother did a wonderful job raising you. I'm sure she is very proud of the man you have become. Oh by the way I can't wait until next year to see you on the court, like all other blazer fans.

Greg,
It is great to see you getting involved in the community. You are an awesome young man, both on and off the court.
Mark

I like the logo. Just. Can't. Reach. The. Ball....

I heard about this before my high school team played another team out of Seattle that a pair of twins Gary Payton played with. Keep up the good work.

GO do they have a program for "Portland" Vancouver, Washington

Greg, Charlie Pinkerton and I miss the Lawrence North games and we wish we saw ya play at OSU...but come on man, the hair???? You represent all that is good in sports and Pink and I wanna challenge you and Mike in a game when you are healthy....

You say all the right things greg, and so does B roy. Tell KP GOOD JOB

that sounds like a good program GO. and btw, when you were in Milwaukee, i stepped out of an elevator in the hotel you were staying in and you were right there. I rode it up a level with josh mcroberts. I freaked out and didnt say anything to you . I flew all the way from Alaska to see you guys play and ended up in the same hotel, it was awesome. I wish I would have gotten an autograph though, lol. maybe next time. I think i'll be back there when you guys play them next year, and im planning a trip to portland for a big homestand next season.

Greg -- as a native Oregonian I'm thrilled to see your involvement in the community. My entire family works in education, so programs like these are near and dear to our hearts. It's refreshing to see a young star recognize the power his influence has and use it in a positive manner. Congrats on the new endeavor!

you got the world in your palm greg

That's a really cool thing you are doing, your using free time to the fullest. I think it would mean a lot to younger kids getting to meet you, it really is something special they will never forget, stuff like that means the world to a young kid. The next season will be hear in no time and then it's our time, the Blazers time. I wish you the best for your recovery.
