Laying Low: Despite Lack Of Attention, Jenkins Eager To Shine

For starters, Jenkins isn't even the team's top draft pick; the Cowboys took running back Felix Jones with the 21st selection.

Jenkins isn't expected to start, with the Cowboys already having Terence Newman and Anthony Henry as a starting combination for the last three seasons.

And if that's not enough, Jenkins isn't even the most recognized of the new cornerbacks. That distinction will undoubtedly go to Adam "Pacman" Jones, whom the Cowboys officially traded for during the draft. If and when Jones is reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after being suspended for the 2007 for a stem of off-the-field incidents, he will likely become the center of attention, not just at cornerback, but ranking right up there with Tony Romo and Terrell Owens.

So that pushes Jenkins down yet another spot down on the cornerback depth chart.

Another great one. IT really makes the Newman negotiation worth following. Two young kids with a chip on their shoulder, a couple of proven veterans to guide them, a possible third veteran, and a strong coach to keep them hungry... Sure sounds like a solid future to me.

Insurance maybe because I think Roy Williams may be trade bait from what I am hearing. He is going to hit the cap strong next year and they may be trying to shop him now before that happens.

He is going to have to play well for to have any value. Do you think he will still wind up there if he plays well?

I think if he has a good year, he may be back in the good graces. He has to start socializing with his teammates and not isolating himself during workouts and stuff. Maybe they have lost trust in him because he leaves them exposed on a lot of plays.

I'm sure. I just wonder if it has gone too far. I know that winning is a fantastic healer, though and if the team can string together another season like last maybe he'll be able to finish out that big money after all. If he leaves don't we have to move Hamlin down to strong safety? He can play it, he did in Seattle but how much will that cost us? As many questions as we answered about our secondary this offseason, I think we may have put ourselves in a position to ask a few more.

Hamlin and Barber both have not been working out with the team in the offseason, so I know neither one of them are happy. Hopefully, they will get their contract issues worked out soon. I like Hamlin and the Cowboys cannot afford to lost either him or Barber at this stage of the game.
