BG v. CP

So I will mark my un-ceremonious return to the Yard by posing a question:

Which generated more buzz, Brittney Griner (who, btw, I have had featured on my MySpace page for a year...ehm) the "High School Girl Dunker" or Candace Parker "declaring" for the WNBA by participating in Tennessee's Senior Night? Hmmmmm....I get the whole "team" thing for CP (and knowing her, she wouldn't have wanted it any other way), but really? I would have been feeling some build up over the "will she or won't she." Can we get a press conference? A Kara Lawson Vol Love exclusive? One more day on PTI is worth something, right? All I know is, I got dozens of text messages about lil' Griner as soon as her video made it to Yahoo Sports...

Now granted, there wasn't ever much chance of CP staying for another year - and I'm guessing Griner doesn't already have a master PR plan grindin', but I gotta give it to her! Griner may have just be on her way to benefiting Tila Tequila style if she (or Baylor!) responds right....

Coming soon. A Shot at Brittney Griner" 24 college coaches, picked to live in one house. Fighting and scheming to win a shot at recruiting 6'8", high school sensation ,Brittney Griner. This show could work. I'd pay to see this kid make your former college coach, do a stupid pet trick. Just to win a visit from Brit.

Here in Chi-town, the CP3 announcement definitely generated more buzz. Personally, I was more interested in the Griner stuff. In reality, neither of those stories really compare to the last tidbit you mentioned: LSU vs. UConn tonight. I love UConn, but I gotta show luv for LSU cuz in a couple months Big Syl is gonna be killin' it on the Chicago Sky!

uh, i'm going with BG. that kid got game. and yeah, we know you scooped her last year...LOL! i think er'body and they mama knew CP was gonna declare. happy we're finally gonna get to see what she can do in the W, but the thought of her in LA makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit :( huskies gotta represent tonight!

CP is definitely gonna kill it in the near future, but i think it'll be interesting to watching Griner progress. Btw, Griner looks like she gets more air on her dunks...

CP has more game, BG can dunk from a standing position which is amazing in and of itself male or female. By the way UC up at the half, but in some foul trouble. I've played against guys who could dunk the same way and they looked great on those three or four dunks, but didn't do much else the rest of the game. Fowles now has 16pts as they begin to pound it inside, Da man keeps coming with steals and points to maintain a lead, although its still back and forth. I am goin to finish watchin the game as I have lost my train of thought.

Yo me quedo con CP porque tiene mucho mas que entregar, ademas de las volcadas y los bloqueos, ella tiene muchas habilidades con el balon, tiene muy buena tecnica y dominio de el, en cambio BG creo que le falta mas habilidades, el tamaño ya lo tiene ahora tiene que complementarlo...
CP será un gran impacto en la WNBA...

i agreee with bballfan but as much as i hate tennessee, ill have to go with CP. The buzz on her was outrageous and wait women dunk now?? Holllllaaa, F the haters women do the damn thing now! anyways Dee i think that CP left to go to the W just so she didn't have to face DELLE DONNE next year at uconn. That was gonna be the sickest matchup everrrr!!!

Dee, welcome back to the place formerly known as Yardbarker... I watched PTI that day, Kornheiser seemed really proud of CP for graduating early. When PTI showed the clips of Brittney Griner, Wilbon was like "that's where women's basketball is heading". She's dunking with ease! Throw it down please! UConn STILL #1.........

Griner wins by a mile. She will be far more dominating than CP ever was. Baylor will win several national titles with her. The center of woman's basketball is no longer UCONN or Tenn. it is Baylor and it is for one reason only. KIM MULKEY, she can flat out coach anyone. Baylor will be dominate for a long long time to come. Tons of top ranked kids will come to Baylor now to play with Ms. Griner and a chance to win a national title.

I'm not sure how they can win several national titles with Griner. Maybe a couple, or a few. I hope she won't be playing college ball long enough to win several.

Actually, as long as she plays 3 or 4 years of college ball, she'll have the opportunity to win several championships. Several only means more then 2 or 3, but fewer then many. Which, I guess could be any number ... so by definition, 3 or 4 = several.
Now, whether she gets the supporting cast at Baylor to pull off such a feat ...

Well, okay. The NCAA tournament, not to mention the Big East tournament, hasn't even been played yet...but c'mon.
Ever since DT, there hasn't been a freshman with as much impact on a team....go UCONN!

Ya know Seatle goes down, and any other year that is game one on the schedule. I seriously thought Swoopes would just play the Olympics this year, but I guess she's feeling better.
Tenn/UConn match up happens in the NCAA TRN, the commitee will make it happen. My guess is the semis as long as both teams play to ability. Looking forward to both TRN (men and women), a great time to be a b-ball fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TEN vs. UCONN, Its a rivalry and others will develop, as that one fades others will develop like RU, UD, Hartford, Colorado, Pittsburgh, AZ, AZ State, UCLA, and USC amoung other worthy schools.
I like the commercials there in though. AND the better than your better commercial, is kinda stupid because you haven't seen my better LT and in my prime I take ya hands down.

i am a 5'11" post who has to guard Britney Griner in district play.. lets just say its a long 32 minutes to say the least!! i'm surprised i actually held my own though, got her with 4 fouls by the beginning of the 3rd quarter! she is a MONSTER though, she tried to dunk on me but missed thank god..
