GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- Kenny Boynton scored 24 points, Bradley Beal had his fourth double-double and No. 12 Florida beat South Carolina 74-66 Thursday night for its sixth consecutive victory.
The Gators (18-4, 6-1 Southeastern Conference) swept the Gamecocks (9-12, 1-6) for the first time since 2008 and extended their home-winning streak to 18 games.

The team's leading scorer and dead-eye 3-point shooter is in a bit of a slump.
Florida junior guard Kenny Boynton was averaging nearly 20 points per game when the Gators entered Southeastern Conference play last month. Through a half-dozen league games, Boynton is averaging 11.7 points and hitting less than 39 percent overall, including just 33.3 from long-distance.

Five impact players
The most difficult part of Florida’s conference schedule starts Saturday afternoon. The Gators have played seven games against conference teams already, but they’ll close out the schedule with five of the remaining nine games against rivals Kentucky, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. The Commodores come to town on Saturday, and while they might not be ranked, they have Florida’s full attention.
Billy Donovan was worried about nights like Thursday before the season started. The Gators struggled to shoot from the field and couldn’t get a rhythm from behind the three-point line. Despite coming out to a blazing start, Florida cooled off and found itself in a fight. Defense and timely free throws helped the Gators escape with a 74-66 win over South Carolina.

Earlier in the week, Florida coach Billy Donovan stopped practice during a five-on-five drill that emphasized defense, boxing out and rebounding. Donovan turned to freshman swingman Bradley Beal and flat-out called him out.
"Two offensive rebounds in SEC play, Brad Beal!" Donovan yelled. "How's that possible?"
