The United States men’s national soccer team won the Gold Cup final on Sunday against Panama, with a 1-0 victory to capture the title. But, Mexico may have the prize for the tournament’s finest goal. It’s nice to see L.D. back in great form, and no, Curb Your Enthusiasm has not started a new season season. Larry David may be another famous L.D., but Landon Donovan is considered by many to be the best to ever wear shin guards and lace up soccer cleats for the United States of America. Donovan led the American “B” squad to solid victories one after another en route to capturing the Gold Cup crown. Additionally, the U.S. team scored goals early and often, while Eddie Johnson and Chris Wondolowski showed why Major League Soccer is not just another league. Johnson, especially, has been dynamic with his head. He has decorated his hair with gold and lightning flashes, which is fitting given how well he has played. Players understand what one good haircut can lead to at the right time, as great hair can mean more endorsements. (See Best Five MLS Hairstyles.) Panama posed a challenge for the Americans but Donovan’s MVP performance led to another solid victory and brought home the trophy. The team’s momentum should help carry it through the next round of World Cup qualifiers and on to the World Cup, itself. Here are the top four goals from the tournament. Which one do you think was the best? Luis Montes for Mexico against Panama Eddie Johnson for the United States against El Salvador Landon Donovan for the United States against Honduras Chris Wondolowski for the United States against Cuba Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
