Found April 21, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
PLAYERS: Santonio Holmes
TEAMS: New York Jets
Rich Cimini of ESPN New York mentioned earlier in the week that WR Santonio Holmes is most likely entering his final season with the Jets. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News agrees that Holmes is unlikely to be brought back given that he would make an $8.25 million base salary in 2014 and count $10.75 million against Jets’ salary cap. Last year, the Jets guaranteed Holmes’ 2013 salary by keeping him on their roster at the start of the 2012 league year, but would later approach him this offseason regarding a pay cut. Given that Holmes held a good amount of leverage in this situation, seeing as he already had $7.5 million of his salary guaranteed for the 2013 season, they only managed to reduce his salary by $3 million. Holmes, 29, is coming off of multiple surgeries to repair a Lisfranc fracture, so there are concerns relating to his overall effectiveness moving forward. With all things considered, it seems likely that the Jets will be looking for a future successor in the draft...
