BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Dan Wheldon was at Barber Motorsports Park today though the Panther Racing transporter wasn't in the pecking order to enter the facility for the IZOD IndyCar Series Open Test.
What gives, Dr. Watson?
Well, Wheldon was participating in the media day activities preceding the two-day test on the 2.38-mile road course that will play host to the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on April 11. His No. 4 National Guard car was on the way to Sebring, Fla., where Wheldon will test this weekend at Sebring International Raceway in preparation for the season opener March 14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Panther Racing has taken delivery of two new Dallara chassis, one reserved for the Indianapolis 500 (Wheldon was runner-up in the 2009 race).
FAZZT Race Team with driver Alex Tagliani and Dale Coyne Racing, which had 2009 Firestone Indy Lights champion J.R. Hildebrand behind the wheel of one of its cars, both tested at Sebring last month and also won't participate at the Bar...
