46 Catches....

Posted August 02, 2013
In 40 games. That's how many catches Cooper has caught in three seasons with the Eagles. For 46 catches the Eagles have been willing to endure all the negative media, all the negative national press, all of the overblown coverage, and most importantly all the dissension in the lockerroom. The Eagles must really think highly of Cooper, because this mess hasn't gone away. In fact it's getting a tad worse. Once again this team is side tracked by some type of ominous training camp sign. Unfortunately this time they are choosing to keep this negativity around. Lurie's decision to keep Cooper has placed Kelly in an uncomfortable position. Telling these men to trust the racist. Of course this is no different than what men has to do in many of the wars in the past and present. In the past they knew who the racist was. In the present they are a little hard to find until they have a viral outburst. What's funny is it isn't the Fact Cooper actually said the word, it's who he said it to, and why he chose to apologize after it came out. You see had Cooper admitted to this before this surfaced, and admitted himself to rehab people most certainly would be willing to forgive, but what are we forgiving now? The fact he was caught? The fact he's remorseful for being caught? On top of this he threatened a member of security with the N-word, (identifying him as such) and everyone else in his sight! And this wasn't the Ni double g a, no this was the southern slave masta version, to go with the red neck flannel and country songs to boot. People can try to minimize the action. You're the fool to do so. This is a distraction, this is the type of thing that can break down a football team, and kill a season before it starts. And so the Eagles by standing by their racist has doomed their season all for 46 catches. Of course there is the group who would say Mike Vick is a dog killer, and he's on the team. This is true, but Mike also paid his penance, went to jail, and spent years trying to reclaim his very soiled name. Cooper has been given an unspecified fine amount, where the money goes to who knows where, and advice to seek counseling. Maybe that's enough in the eyes of some, but judging by how many of his teammates are reacting, it's not enough for them. Maybe this team as a whole needs to go through some type of team rebuilding program. Right now the trust in that locker room is gone. Last season the locker room spoiled and went bad by mid season. Now not even two weeks into training camp the division has begun. All for 46 catches.
