Outside linebacker Parys Haralson, who sustained a complete tear of the triceps tendon in his left arm Aug. 26, began lifting weights three weeks ago. Haralson said Friday he is on pace to resume football activity during the offseason -- whether it's organized team activities or minicamp. "They told me the rehab was anywhere for four to six months, depending on how you go about the rehab," Haralson said. "A lot of it depends on the work you put in. "It's a gradual thing. You start off with a little bit, as far as getting the range of motion back and making sure you break all the scar tissue. It's more of a buildup of doing the little things, not overworking it but getting enough work so you can tell it's getting stronger." Haralson engaged a Denver Broncos tight end during the exhibition game and immediately felt a shooting pain in his arm. The tendon became detached and the triceps muscle rolled up in the back of his arm. Source: Comcast Sports

San Francisco 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree and running back Frank Gore threw the ball into the stands after scoring touchdowns on Sunday, but giving fans a souvenir was an expensive move. San Francisco 49ers: Wild Card Round Power Rankings (#4)

It’s a shame Justin Smith had to get hurt. I was really interested to see just how much of a quarterback league this really is. We know it’s a quarterback league. Of the last 21 Super Bowl winning quarterbacks, 20 made a Pro-Bowl first. As meaningless as the Pro-Bowl is and as bad a job as the fans do in voting in the correct players, they generally do a good job picking the...

David Akers Death Threats: Sports Fans Truly Are Idiots

If you are reading this article, it is most likely because you are a sports fan. I am a huge sports fan, and have been one all my life. Like many, I get excited when my favorite team wins, as well as a bit upset when they lose. But never have I ever thought about lodging a death threat against any of the players who may have liked to my team losing. The latest death threats via Twitter...

'The Cowboy' saddles up for playoff comeback

The 49ers’ defense is that much more stingy with Justin Smith on the field. Anyone in his own locker room or elsewhere will emphatically say as much. So, perhaps the most important part of San Francisco securing a first-round playoff bye is the chance to get the defensive menace back for its playoff opener.

Let the kicking competition begin

Billy Cundiff, sporting a crisp new white No. 6 jersey, had an impressive first day of practice with the 49ers while kicking alongside struggling veteran David Akers as coach Jim Harbaugh closely watched. Cundiff signed a one-year contract with the NFC West champion Niners to compete with Akers as Harbaugh and his staff determine who will handle the kicking duties for the Niners in the playoffs.

Defensive tackle Justin Smith is practicing for a second straight day, and while he again is doing so with a brace on his left elbow, he is not wearing a no-contact jersey.
