Matt Cullen's power-play goal at 5:34 of the second has tied the score 1-1 for the Canes. Cullen scored on a shot from the goal line extended that appeared to hit defenseman Brendan Witt in front of goalie Dwayne Roloson. It came after Sergei Samsonov and Rod Brind'Amour had good scoring chances in a power play that had Eric Staal and Joe Corvo on the points.
