Fox Sports:
The Kansas City Chiefs have fired Chan Gailey as offensive coordinator.
The Chiefs said head coach Todd Haley would address Gailey's status with the team after Monday's practice.
The Chiefs had retained Gailey when Haley was hired in the offseason.
The team is heading into the 2009 season with big questions about its offensive line, and the health of quarterback Matt Cassel. Cassel was injured in Saturday's preseason loss to Seattle.

NFL preseason is a scam that needs to end
With the NFL considering the possibility of expanding the regular season, it's a given that, for each new "real" game, the league will be subtracting one of the "not real" ones.
So 31 years after the formula of 14 real games and six not real ones adjusted to 16 and four, the next step could be a move to 17 and three, or maybe 18 and two.
How about just making...
Mitch Mustain, Don't Lose Heart
At first blush, it seems so damn unfair.
And in the long run, perhaps it will turn out that way.
When Mitch Mustain followed his good friend and high school teammate, Damien Williams to USC, it seemed that it would only be a matter of time before the highly regarded prep quarterback from Arkansas would find fame for the Men of Troy.
After all, Mustain had led the Arkansas Razorbacks...
Conspiracy Theory 101: Did Patriots Release Kevin O'Connell as Gift to Broncos?
On Aug. 30, the New England Patriots released former third-round pick, Kevin O'Connell, who played quarterback at San Diego State.
It seems strange that the Patriots would do so after reports that the Raiders had attempted to acquire O'Connell in a trade for All-Pro Derrick Burgess.
