However, as the SEC Tournament's #3 seed they were sent home early after being ousted in two games. Ole Miss made sure the same did not happen when they hosted the Oxford Regional winning easily over Monmouth (8-1) and Western Kentucky (7-4) in their first two games. After leading 9-3 in the Regional finals, the Rebels watched as Western Kentucky took a dramatic victory hitting 3 home runs and scoring 7 runs in the final two innings, inlcuding 6 runs off closer Jake Morgan before he was pulled without recording an out. But in Monday's elimination game, Drew Pomeranz was nearly unhittable throwing a complete game two-hitter on only two days rest!
