It would be wrong to say that the Lakers made the Magic quit in their championship clinching win tonight. The Magic deserve better than that in a year where they won two out of three series against 60-win teams, not to mention winning a Game Seven in Boston. But while the Magic were certainly in Games 2 through 4, and the series could have easily gone to a Game Six, there was no way they were winning four games out of seven against the Lakers. The reason why is that the Lakers didn't just have the best player in the floor in Kobe Bryant. They also had the best big man in Pau Gaosl. No one wants to imagine, perhaps outside of Los Angeles, that Gasol is a better player than Dwight Howard. But he, well, is. Offensively, of course, there really is no question about that, in that Gasol has wonderful hands and a wealth of crafty low post moves, whereas Howard is simply an energy player -- the best in the Association, but that's it. Defensively, Howard is fantastic at weakside help,...

Easy on Dwight
Yes, Dwight Howard doesn't have a ton of post moves, but he's only 23 years old. HE'S GOING TO GET BETTER. He's already the best rebounder and shot blocker on the planet, and he can still get 20 points a night along with that, so just because he doesnt have moves like Hakeem or Kareem (rhymes, funny) doesnt mean he's not going to be an all time great. He'...
Kobe Bryant Named Finals MVP
by Brett PollakoffFiled under: Lakers, Magic, NBA Awards, PlayoffsKobe Bryant was named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player, and being the best player on the team that just won the championship, it's tough to disagree. It was Kobe's first time winning the award, because it went to Shaquille O'Neal the first three times that the Lakers won the title with Bryant on the...
Magic's Man of Steel not strong enough in Finals
For Dwight Howard, this is a learning experience. The Lakers teach him how far he has to go during their 99-86 title-clinching victory. Howard needs to acquire more of a Kobe killer instinct, Gregg Doyel says.
Kobe wasn't going to let the big one get away
This being a Twitter world, Kobe Bryant got his congratulations from the big guy in 140 characters or less.No need for anything more personal, not on this night of nights for Bryant. Besides, he had new teammates to celebrate with, new memories to savor.Shaquille O'Neal seemed another lifetime away. Bryant was the one with the NBA finals MVP trophy in hand, an old score finally...

The most sporty thing I can think of right now is just how I cannot accept Kobe Bryant as a Basketball Saint. It's not a balls to the wall thing. He has said **** it to the Lakers on four seperate occasions. And I honestly don't know that it's because the Lakers are my 3rd least favorite basketball team. So, I'll level with you. I'm watching Iran. This will not...
Day 1 of the offseason, Kobe is still the headliner
As expected, you couldn’t get away from Kobe Bryant yesterday. In fact, if you have any Orlando Magic fans in your life, you might wanna have them stay away from the Internet or any sports TV/radio stations for the rest of the week. The fallout from Kobe’s first “solo” NBA championship has so far revolved [...]
LA Lakers: Your 2008-2009 NBA Champs
and the Orlando Magic roll over and take it like champs.
Seriously, watching this series was like watching a lucky team vs. a good team. The Lakers and whatever you make of Kobe Bryant and his scowl were the dominant team, eventhough 2 games went to overtime and the Magic won one. I keep thinking of what could have been. I know Nike and the puppets wanted a Kobe/Lebron final...

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Orlando Magic (4-1 LAL, in Los Angeles)Magic Keys to the Game: Game 6 will be a pivotal game for the Magic. Magic had all the questionsLakers had all the answers Lakers win series 4-1
Congratulations Los Angeles Lakers! When this series started I really thought the Orlando Magic would win their 1st ever NBA title instead it was the Lakers claiming their 15th. I wanted sooooooo badly to hate Kobe Bryant but I couldn't find any reason at all. The guy is the BEST player in the NBA and he is such a professional it almost sickens me. I kept waiting for arrogant...
