Injured Mavericks guard Quinton Ross said Saturday morning after the team's shoot-around that he will play tonight against Toronto.
Ross bruised his lower back in Tuesday's home win over the Utah Jazz and didn't return to the game and then missed the Mavericks' overtime loss Wednesday at New Orleans. Ross said he hurt himself Tuesday trying to draw a charge against Utah 6-9, 225-pound forward Andrei Kirilenko. Ross, the SMU product who is one of the team's best perimeter defenders, said his back hit the court when he fell to the floor.
Ross said that after he went through the shoot-around this morning, he decided to play tonight.
"After moving around, it actually feels pretty good, so I'm going to try to give it a go tonight and see how I feel," Ross said.
Ross said his back tightened up on him after he hurt it Tuesday. He said the key tonight will be applying heat and stretching well so that he can stay loose before and during the game.
