News: Mark Sanchez is NFL Rookie of the Month

It’s award time already? Apparently so, as Hutch at the Star-Ledger let us all know that Mr. Sanchez was named the NFL’s Rookie of the Month. Quarterback Mark Sanchez received what the organization hopes is the first of many awards Thursday morning when he was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month. He’s the first player in franchise history to ever win the award. Sanchez, nicknamed “San-chize,” completed 49 of 83 passes (59%) for 606 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in leading the Jets to a surprising 3-0 mark…Jets LB David Harris won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month award in 2007 but no Jet won the offensive half of the honor before Sanchez. Not much surprise with this one. Vikings receiver Percy Harvin might be close, but Sanchez ran away with the headlines in September. Congrats to No. 6!
