Last night's game was a unique experience that I might not have a chance to go through again. This game was as good as advertised. Five thousand people filled in a stadium that is only supposed to hold 3,000. I thought getting to the game one hour and a half early was going to guarantee me a spot in the stands.
I was wrong.
The line to get into the stadium stretched out onto the street. The Skyline side was already packed with Spartan students and parents, both end zones were filled, and Oaks Christian had filled their hands with the 300 or so tickets they were allotted. I settled myself in at a standing spot on the fence on the Oaks Christian side.
By kickoff, every single space in the stadium was full, there were no gaps on the fence that surrounded the football field and track. Spectators hopelessly started to form lines behind the fences, wanting to see some of the action. A couple things I noticed were the intimidating "This is Sparta" banner.
I do not think any team is as intimidating as this Skyline team right now, the Spartans have dominated the prep football landscape the past five years. I also noticed the large amount of Husky fans. Being a Husky fan myself, I could not wait to see Nick Montana in action. Oh yea, and then there was that guy named Will Smith.
Here is my stalker picture:

Will Smith is the guy wearing the black leather hat right in the middle of the picture.
Funny moment took place when "Gettin' Jiggy With It" started playing over the sound system during pre-game warm ups (I am not sure if Big Willie was in the house yet). A group of UW frat members came to watch the game together, one of the members kept on yelling at Will Smith while waving a Fresh-Prince of Bel Air DVD case in the air.
Of course, Will Smith was gracious to all the fans that yelled his name in appreciation. The signature smile made everyone's day, including mine. It is just hard to believe that the Man in Black, the Pursuer of Happiness, the Fresh Prince, the Legend, the Bad Boy, and Ali....He was right in front of me. So cool.
Oh, I guess we will talk about football once more...
Player Reports
Although a little undersized, Nick Montana has a cannon for an arm. He can throw the ball a lot faster than Heaps. Montana also had a little more composure at the start of the game. Heaps seemed hesitant and confused when Oaks Christian was able to put pressure on him. Unlike Heaps, Montana trusted his offensive line and in turn was able to be more composed.
On the other hand, Heaps has a much stronger arm than Montana. Skyline loves to air it out and go for the big pass play, and why not? If you have a player like Kasen Williams, that does not seem like to bad of a plan. Let me take this moment to say that Kasen Williams is one of the best players in the state. I remember watching him thrill fans with his performance as a freshman in the 3A state championship.
Kasen is a play maker and is one of the most exciting players at the high school level. I hope the Huskies can scoop him up
On a final note,
I just wanted to give props to the rowdy Skyline student section. They stayed excited until the very last drive. Also, a big ups to the Skyline cheer squad...that half-time show was awesome to watch, flips and everything...it was sweet.
I truly thought that Skyline was going to be able to kick a field goal or score a touchdown on the last drive. Heaps' killer instinct was kicking in, and he was able to pick apart a tough Oaks Christian defense.
