This is the lull before the storm. This is the time when major league front office people tie up loose ends, take a few days off and catch their breath before offseason begins in earnest following the World Series. That's why the biggest baseball headline in The Sun today is about negotiations with reliever/swingman Mark Hendrickson, who almost certainly will re-sign with the Orioles -- which is fine because he's a versatile role player on the pitching staff, but it's not really news when you consider he's from nearby York and not many other teams will be beating down his door this winter. Re-Sign Hendrickson

We all know that the Baltimore bullpen was a mess at times last season and with the off-season looming, one would think changes would be made. However, one member of the bullpen, Mark Hendrickson was a source of strength last season as he often pitched in long relief and was a spot starter. Well, it looks as if he wants to come back to Baltimore and doesn't want the decision...

Orioles: Moeller explained

Most of you probably know this already, but I thought I'd clarify the Chad Moeller situation for anyone who didn't get to the end of Jeff Zrebiec's story on the subject. The Orioles declined his $850,000 major league option yesterday, but that does not mean he will not return as Matt Wieters backup next season. In fact, I would guess that his return is fairly likely....

Hendrickson Hopes To Re-Sign With O's Quickly

Once the World Series ends, teams get an exclusive 15-day window to negotiate with their own free agents before they truly hit the open market, and as Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun notes, lefthander Mark Hendrickson hopes the Orioles take advantage of that window. "We won't wait just for the purpose of waiting," said Joe Urbon of CAA Sports. "They have...

Goodbye Melvin Mora

In a way, it’s like watching the dude you went to high school with that always had something smart to say walk across the stage at graduation. O's outright Hill, McCrory and Simon

Rich Hill, Bob McCrory and Alfredo Simon, three pitchers who had arm surgeries this year, passed through waivers and were outrighted off the Orioles' 40-man roster Friday. Hill and Simon, along with outfielder Jeff Fiorentino and catcher Guillermo Rodriguez, who were outrighted Thursday, now have eight days to decide whether they want to elect free agency.
