It Might Be Dangerous:
At the conclusion of every month we name both a Player of the Month and a Pitcher of the Month in the minor leagues. Mike Wickham, our Director of Minor League Operations, sends out the ballots to both front office and field staff, and my guess is that it's usually a pretty lopsided vote. In fact, I'd be surprised if more than two players or two pitchers receive any votes at all in any given month. This month, however, is different.June was witness to a slew of remarkable offensive performances (as well as pitching performances) in our system. Imagine you're Kyle Blanks for a moment, a 22-year-old rookie not even a month in the Major Leagues. You're a first baseman by trade, but you're in left field, learning...
Anyone else think PETA will be angry about bee slaughter at Padres game?
You just know they will. That's because to them every animal and insect is a beautiful, heaven-sent creature and life is all about rainbows and unicorns, or something like that.
After a swarm of bees delayed yesterday's Astros-Padres game by almost an hour, the bees were massacred by a local beekeeper and play resumed.
We all know that PETA wouldn't miss a chance...
Swarming Bees Delay Astros vs. Padres
by Matt SnyderFiled under: Astros, Padres, NL Central, NL WestWe've heard of a rain delay in baseball. It happens occasionally -- in fact, pretty frequently this season. Something you don't quite see so often is the non-traditional, but still quite crowd-pleasing, bee delay. According to the Associated Press, Padres left-fielder Kyle Blanks began moving toward the infield...
