Because if Hummel is healthy and at his best, there's no reason to believe he won't be a starting-quality NBA player. He is too strong, too skilled, too versatile not to find a job somewhere in the league when his time to play there arrives. Of course, all of that comes down to him being fully healed. In June, at the USA Basketball trials, he insisted he was fine, but it was clear he hadn't yet recovered all of his athleticism.
