A few Rangers thoughts. We'll expand on some of these over the next few days. • Bounce back. Give the Rangers some credit for being a team that doesn't quit. Giving up a 6-run lead, three of those in the top of the ninth could have led to a crushing loss. Instead, they calmly got it done in the bottom half of the ninth as Michael Young got a hit, David Murphy executed the bunt and Hank Blalock hit a homer to deep centerfield for the victory. That ended a streak of 142 career homers without one to walk off a game for Blalock. • I'm still struck that the Angels didn't walk Hank Blalock with Julio Borbon on deck in the ninth. There were two outs and the winning run was already in scoring position. Blalock found a pitch he could hit and slammed it. The Angels seemed all out of sorts most of the game, really.
