By Marc Stein Who says recruiting violations are limited to the college game? The NBA notified its teams on Tuesday that four clubs have been fined $25,000 each for reimbursing travel, lodging and/or meal expenses incurred by free agents in excess of league-approved limits, ESPN.com has learned. One catch, though. The league has not identified the four culprits to the other 26, so we've got some digging to do. The NBA's guidelines on the matter allow a team "to reimburse reasonable travel, lodging and meal expenses incurred in connection with recruiting, negotiating or signing a player contract with a free agent provided that, among other things, the team reimburses expenses for no more than three recruiting trips for a maximum of three days per trip." More details when we get them.
