If Adam Rubin's information is accurate and I have no reason to believe it's not, since he always appears to be spot on in my book, then the Mets are looking for a right handed platoon partner for Murphy at first base...I've felt that one of Omar's biggest failures since after the 2006 season is his inability to make in-season adjust specifically by making smaller role player moves in-season. Look at a transaction sheet for two years straight (2007-2008) any team in contention was making moves while the Mets were one of the most stagnant teams. I'm not talking about the Hail Mary 6 for 1 deals, I'm talking about the two marginal prospects to strengthen the bench type of deals. In my opinion, it's no coincidence that in a season known as a long grind, we as one of the only teams not to make moves to bolster our roster ran out of gas in September and fell short. This season was much different but I am still troubled by the tread of inactivity in-season. Je...

What Went Wrong With The Mets Bullpen
The Mets seemed set up for a great 2009 season. Not the least of their strengths would be their bullpen, which was overhauled during the off season. We signed K-Rod, and then made the big trade for JJ Putz, and even got Sean Green back in that deal which looked so good at the time. Returning would be Perpetual [...]
Bosom Buddies: A Correspondence With Melissa Lima
This job, unlike many others in "sports media," provides plenty of absurd scenarios on a weekly basis. But this one, involving Jose Lima's ex-wife, Melissa, thrusts us headlong into Eugene Ionesco territory. You see, Ms. Lima emailed this site last Wednesday night in an effort to help provide you, boob-ogling reader of the fortnight, with more photos of herself: Since...
Mets Aren’t The Only Team That Peaked In 2006
Three years ago today, Carlos Beltran got a good look at an Adam Wainwright curveball and the Cardinals went on to the 2006 World Series. (I have spared my fellow Mets fans from having to see that picture by showing you a photo of Beltran hitting a home run against the Cardinals instead.) After that [...]
Welcome, THB Class of 2009
People who think computers play baseball will say the Angels are down 2 games to 1. But computers don't play baseball. And when you have a teammate like Derek Jeter, and you see the way he goes about his business and how calm he is after a game like that, it's like you've won. So the computers may say the Angels are down just one game, but if you're in the Yankee...
StubHub glitch offers playoff ticket for New York Mets, others
StubHub sent an e-mail Monday offering tickets for Mets' playoff games.
IF THIS POST SEASON HAS PROVED ANYTHING, IT’S WE’RE NOT THAT FAR BEHIND
I have to confess, I haven’t thought about the Mets offseason plans too much lately. What with the Giants and Rangers playing lights out and the Celtics getting ready to start the season with so much fire power a date with the Hollywood Fakers in the Finals looks inevitable. After a summer of dread and negativity I’m enjoying my fandom prosperity. But an item this week caught...
StubHub Offering Great Deals On Mythical Mets-Cubs World Series Tickets
For baseball fans who have seen their teams' championship dreams already extinguished, October is the cruelest month. So it doesn't help when some mean website rubs salt in the wounds with offers of imaginary playoff tickets. Sad Mets fans and wounded Cubbie backers have been forwarding us emails this afternoon that they received from online price gouger StubHub today. The...
Platoon at 1B new LF...
According to Adam Rubin his sources believe that the Mets will look to fill the power void with a left fielder through free agency while trading for a right handed 1B to platoon with Murphy. This appears to be a result of the market along with the emergence of Ike Davis. The market has several quality left fielders, lead by Matt Holliday and Jason Bay, who if your willing to pay would...
Davis a runner-up player of week in AFL
Ike Davis continues to make a name for himself, while I'd like the Mets to sign or trade for a player who would completely block Davis for next year ( Adam LaRoche), so that they wouldn't be tempted to bring him up, I think they'll do the exact opposite. I think the Mets will bring in a marginal player or re-sign Tatis. As I said yesterday if this is the route they take...
