zelaya1Officials from La Dirección Nacional de Investigación Criminal seized several computers from Honduras’ Presidential Palace on which were recorded the “official results” of the referendum on constitutional reform… that had yet to be held at the time Manuel Zelaya was ousted.

Officials are now looking into the matter as a possible case of fraud, falsification of documents and embezzlement. The referendum’s “results” are also said to include personal information about various individuals who, of course, had not yet voted.

The results of the votes, which were marked as having been verified by the Luis Bogran Technical Institute in Tegucigalpa, were recorded as 550 total ballots, 450 of which were in favor of Zelaya’s proposal with a mere 30 against it. Additionally, the vote tally included 20 blank ballots and 30 which were nullified.

Zelaya’s proposal to make constitutional amendments extending the number of Presidential terms in office had previously been deemed illegal by Honduras’ Supreme Court.
