Found October 25, 2009 on Shutdown Corner:
The last time the Steelers and Vikings met, it was December 18, 2005, and the Steelers won, 18-3. Current Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was Tampa Bay's secondary coach, current Vikings head coach Brad Childress was Philly's offensive coordinator, and Brett Favre(notes) hadn't even started waffling yet. It was a very different time, as evidenced by the rush/pass totals for both teams. Big Ben came close to having more rushing attempts (six) then completed passes (10). Brad Johnson(notes) threw 30 passes and completed only 16 against the vaunted Pittsburgh defense. 45 passing attempts in a single game? When the Vikings and Steelers face off today, we may see more than that by the end of the first half. Minnesota has gone a bit more pass-happy with Brett Favre in charge -- they average 30.7 attempts per game as opposed to 28...

Why Exactly Does White Get the Free Pass?

A Fan Mail letter to the Green Bay Press-Gazette Packers Preview section on October 24 caught my eye today (sorry, no link apparently available):Fitzgerald, Ga. - The Packer management is undecided as to how and when to retire Brett Favre's number. To pit No. 4 along with Nos. 5, 15, 66, and 92 would be a total disgrace to the these. No way should an out-and-out traitor have No...

Capers to play it safe

A lot has changed for the Packers defense since it played against the Vikings and Brett Favre Oct. 5. What hasn't changed, however, is Dom Capers' belief that he did the right thing defending the Vikings' score-a-minute offense with caution in the first meeting.

Video: Percy Harvin Kick-Off TD, Jeff Dugan Flattens Official

This Percy Harvin kick-off return momentarily gave the Vikings hope (until they lost it again when Chester Taylor couldn’t haul in a screen pass from Brett Favre).  It is memorable not only for Percy, but for Jeff Dugan running over the back judge.  Amazingly, there are people who suggest Dugan ran the official over on [...]
