Ducks 5 - Oilers 3[ AP Photo/The Canadian Press, Jimmy Jeong ]Last night's performance at Rexall Place is the kind of performance I expect out of my boys every night. They opened the game by flexing their muscles early on and getting physical. In the first of the two fights that transpired, Bobby Ryan tangled with veteran Steve Staios for B-Ry's first ever NHL fight. The tally brought the boys even with the Oil, who had struck first on a power play goal from Andrew Cogliano earlier in the period. The second period blew up for Anaheim, as they continued to take advantage of their opportunities on the power play. Captain Scott Niedermayer once again took matters into his own hands to put the Ducks ahead by one. Later in the period, Scotty notch...

Liveblog: Ducks vs. Nucks

Let me forewarn you. Much of my liveblogging consists of mainly emoting. Now that you know what you're getting yourself into, read on if you please.I was debating about liveblogging this game since I'm actually taking the time to sit down and catch it on the telly, but something about having to hit "publish post" every two seconds seemed unappealing. As a result...

5 games left: My pre-emptive look at a failed season.

Like Lowetide, I'm not putting all of the blame on MacT for what happened this season. Should he quit or be fired at the season's end? Yes. He made some dangerous gambles (from position shifting to the stick call) but had any of them worked out, we could still be talking about post season chances (which are now at 8% and require the Oil to pretty much win-out the season...

Stanley Cup champs still alive

Perry, Niedermayer Added to All Star Roster

The NHL announced the addition of Corey Perry and Scott Niedermayer to the All Star roster today. There are several injuries to players previously selected for the All Star game, most notably Sidney Crosby with a high ankle sprain. With loss comes opportunity. In this case, Perry and Niedermayer are ...

30 Years Ago, Hull Pulled A Selanne For Red Wings

It worked OK for Chris Webber last year; we'll see about this winter. It didn't work so well for Rudy Giuliani in the political world. Only time will tell if it will work for Scott Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne. Chris Chelios doesn't think he's earned the right, at age 46, to give it a whirl. What "it...

Tuukka Rask Debuts Against Leafs

I fear Tuukka Rask won't just be a good NHL goaltender, he'll be great. Rask, you'll recall, was traded to Boston by the Leafs for Andrew Raycroft. I suspect we'll look back at that trade and cringe the way we cringe when we think about giving up Russ Courtnall for John Kordic or Scott Niedermayer ...
