Found April 19, 2010 on NY Baseball Digest:

Early this morning a Mets fan with the handle “Kings” sent me this rant which I just let you read and comment on, for the record I think it’s an overreaction.

David Wright said the 2-4 road trip wasn’t a bust.

“I think our starting pitchers settled down and found a comfort zone and our bullpen is pitching solid,” Wright said. “And hopefully this [homestand] there is more hits to be had.

“What is going on in the clubhouse is where it needs to be, we just need to do a better job of going out and executing.”

With the 2010 season fast becoming a 2009 redux, it is high time someone in direct charge (does that person exist?) point a finger at the golden boy who has become the team dim wit. Forget the fact that David Wright has become a worthless, dead bat in the middle of the lineup. And, forgive his painful at-bats that seem to indicate a totally clueless approach. Also, ignore the recurrent whiffs at the plate that is adding to the already cold Spring (are you listening Al Gore?). What we are now getting from David is a myriad of nonsensical “gobbly gook” that is passing for intellect. What in Sam Hill is going on in the clubhouse that is pleasing to David? Please, pray tell, enlighten the rest of we folks who have plunked down serious non-Obama stash as to what this means!

The David Wright conundrum reminds me of my old corporate days where the pretty boys got all the goodies while producing nothing, with the rest of us working like inferno just to keep our positions and whatever perks were tossed our way. Can someone please tell David that he has no clothes! Will he ever be held accountable for his minor league performance with a big league team? Was 2009 a preview of things to come for the rest of his career? What has happened to him? How is Howard Johnson (a career .250 hitter) be the batting coach savior who is receiving accolades from these “no-hit” mutts?

Please help me cope with my 1970’s flashback when seasons would be over by May 1, and we would get reduced to cheering individual performances. Please help me understand where we find these players. And, for God’s sake, get Wally Backman on the phone quickly before I completely lose my mind.
