The NFL should not go to an 18-game schedule. After hearing different sides to it, I have firmly changed my stance as I previously wanted an 18-game schedule.
As the old saying goes “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and that is what the NFL season is. Owners may feel like they are providing more entertainment for the fans, and while that might be true in quantity it may not be in quality. And that quality will suffer in the long run. DeMaurice Smith has already said that the players WILL NOT play an 18-game schedule, so how will the owners counter?
Serious Negatives:
- More injuries
- Fewer long-term superstars
- Potential for watered down play
These are just a few. Keep the game how it is. Let teams bring in more bodies. But do not go to an 18-game schedule, please.
