Alex Rodriguez was scheduled to play in his final minor league rehab with Triple-A Scranton on Sunday, but he is instead out of the lineup with a tight left quad. The injury forced him to DH on Saturday rather than play third base as scheduled. The Yankees, including team president Randy Levine, have all but confirmed Rodriguez would return to the team on Monday as long as he made it through his final rehab games this weekend in one piece. The quad injury apparently occurred running the bases and sliding into second on Friday. “I didn't think it was that bad,” said Rodriguez to Dan Martin of the New York Post following Saturday's game. “They all know. We called them right before the game and told them we would be DH-ing today and they said, ‘Do whatever you need to do, as long as you get up here.'” Rodriguez also said he may just receive treatment on Sunday before returning to the team as planned on Monday. The team has yet to announce any official plan for A-Rod. They're presumably waiting to see how he feels following Saturday's game and responds to treatment.
