NCAABB LogoDay two has arrived for the ACC Tournament and that means another four games to watch (starting at noon with UNC vs Miami) and to write about (in this post). For the Heels preview check out my post here, for the rest of the games read below about them. And while I am at it, check out scacchoops‘s web site, where I am one of 60+ people that is still perfect in the ACC Tournament picks (out of 179 total participants). Hopefully I can keep going with those picks, and if not, at least the one that belongs to Carolina!

The first game, which begins right after the UNC/Miami match up, has #4 Clemson going at it with #5 Boston College, and is probably the most important game for the ACC when it comes to teams making the Big Dance. Both of these squads are on the bubble right now and the winner will probably punch their ticket for next week, while the loser will be watching from the outside looking in. In this game we could think “tired legs vs legs that haven’t played”, but the reality is that the Eagles controlled the game against the Demon Deacons yesterday and should not be tired at all.

My prediction: I will go with Boston College in this one, but would not be surprised at all if Clemson comes out strong and wins it.

The first night game will be #2 Duke against #7 Maryland, and while I am no fans of the Blue Devils, I can not see any scenario where the Terps pull the upset in this one. In other words, this game is for Duke to win (or lose) and Maryland is there more for the ride and not for anything else. I do look for Jordan Williams to have a great game for MD, but outside of him there is nothing that Duke can not handle.

My prediction: This should be a very easy for Duke as they look to rebound from the shellacking that they got in Chapel Hill.

And finally, cause there needs to be one today, here is my upset of the day, or should I say night, as #3 Florida State and #6 Virginia Tech get together in the last match up. I think that while VT hasn’t been playing its best of late yesterday’s win gave them some confidence to look at the possibility to once again go after Duke for another quality win. Also, the Hokies are a bubble squad, and this win, and a good showing (win or lose) tomorrow would put them in the NCAA Tournament. All of this though, comes behind the fact that Malcolm Delaney has a good day shooting, rising much higher than his 34% shooting of late.

My predicition: Virginia Tech will take this one in a tough, grind it out, game.

If I was to hit all four games I would be 8 and 0 in the ACC predictions. I know that I am only half way there right now, but a blogger can dream, can’t he?
