The St. Louis Cardinals entered Wednesday night’s tilt flush in the middle of a six-game losing streak that has been every bit as painful as it sounds, especially considering that three of those games were against the Pittsburgh Pirates, who had leap-frogged St. Louis in the National League Central Division standings. The Cardinals were hoping to right the ship on Wednesday night and had the right guy on the mound to get the job done. Unfortunately, Adam Wainwright was not able to stop the bleeding as the Cardinals fell to the Pirates 5-4. Wainwright didn’t necessarily pitch poorly despite not having his best stuff.
