NFL superstar running back from the Minnesota Vikings, Adrian Peterson feels that Texas A&M Johnny Manziel quarterback and all other college athletes should get paid. Peterson spoke with FOXSports.com this week. One of the topics was Johnny Manziel. Peterson weighed in and feels that Manziel and other players should be allowed to make money off their own name. When FOXSports.com asked Adrian, he replied, “I think so. The universities are making a lot of money off of student-athletes in general. So, yeah, he should be able to make money. I think so. They make millions off of these college athletes and they made millions off of the guys I played with as well. Yeah, he should be getting paid.” Peterson went on to say, “I think if you are in a position to where people want to pay you for your autographs or signatures, then you should be able to do that. He’s a young man and he should be able to sign his name on a helmet or wherever without it being an issue.” Another person that feels that way is right in Manziel’s backyard. Texas A&M University System chancellor John Sharp feels that college athletes should be allowed to make money. “I also think that there’s something, you know this is just me talking not as chancellor of the system, something is wrong with the system when we can make money off of our football players, the NCAA make money off of our football players and they can’t be treated like Olympic athletes.” That is what Sharp said in an interview with NBC. Manziel has been become a household name after becoming the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy.  The NCAA is investigating Manziel to see if he possibly received payment from memorabilia brokers for signing autographs in different parts of the country. If the findings from the NCAA investigation show Johnny Football did commit NCAA violations his amateur status and eligibility could be at risk. Since John Sharp feels that college athletes should make money, it almost seems that Texas A&M know that Manziel did make money off the autographs. If Manziel is suspended the Alabama and Texas A&M game will no longer be that great of game that everyone had anticipated. Still Johnny Manziel should start making better life choices as he is still a collegiate player. This way his draft stock will still stay high and NFL teams and coaches will not have to worry about “off the field” issues.
