Peterson plans to play in the Vikings game this weekend amid news of losing his son in a deadly case of child abuse. Horribly, ADRIAN PETERSON’s 2-year old boy has passed away from injuries sustained in Wednesday’s abusive attack. As facts continue to unfold, Sioux Falls police have the perpetrator in custody: 27-year old Joseph Robert Patterson. Patterson has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated assault of an infant but that will soon be commuted to murder. Patterson had two prior domestic cases: one for simple assault; the other for violating a restraining order. Police say Patterson recently started a relationship with the child’s mother and has a history of domestic abuse with a prior woman and child. Patterson also has a child from a prior relationship. Upon hearing the news, Adrian Peterson released this statement via Twitter: Sources say Peterson had been bracing for the worse since the incident and had planned to play in this weekend’s game versus Carolina. No word yet on whether he will actually go through with it. Our prayers go out to Adrian Peterson and his family.
