Texas A&M is relishing its spot as the new 'it' team in college football following its 29-24 upset victory over then-No. 1 ranked Alabama last Saturday. But the Aggies know how quickly things can change, which is why their focus now is on this weekend's game against Sam Houston State. "That part's already over with," Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin said of the win. "We've moved on to Sam Houston. Winning that game is probably for our program in the first year of the SEC it was significant because it's our first year. How we performed and how this team has performed, not just in that game but throughout the year, it's important. It shows we belonged, we hold our own and we compete in the SEC." The Aggies (8-2, 5-2 in the SEC West) are back at Kyle Field for Saturday's game against an 8-2 Bearkat team that's ranked nationally in the NCAA Division I Football Championship polls and is riding a seven game winning streak. Sam Houston St. has outscored its opponents 365-83 in those seven games. "We're happy to be back home this week at Kyle Field," Sumlin said. "We went through a tough stretch of five of six on the road. To run that gauntlet and come out the way we did (5-1), it says a lot about the leadership of our seniors and the way our team is playing. For our seniors, it's a big deal to have the last two games at Kyle Field. They've done a great job." And they've been rewarded for it too. Not only are the Aggies now the No. 8 team in the BCS rankings, they've become the darlings of College Station. It was evident when they returned from Alabama. "You hear from a lot of people, as a coach, things happen so quickly you don't have to reflect on it," Sumlin said. "You move on to next week. A great thing for our players was the welcome we got when we got back to campus. I don't know how many people were there but it was great, the attitude of our student and community and the excitement."
