It seems like every single season there’s at least one player that was overlooked for the All-Star Game. This year’s All-Star snub is White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski. He’s 35 years old and is having the best first half of his career. Just look at the numbers – he’s hitting .291 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. Pierzynski’s career high for home runs in an entire season is 18, and his career high for RBIs in an entire season is 70. Even though Pierzynski has those great numbers that will smash his career best, three other catchers in the American League were selected over him. The fan vote declared that Rangers catcher Mike Napoli will be the AL’s starting catcher for the All-Star Game. His numbers: a .235 batting average, 12 home runs, and 30 RBIs. Orioles catcher Matt Wieters was selected as the back-up catcher by the players. His numbers: a .247 average, 11 home runs, and 40 RBIs. Streaking White Sox Need To Improve Bullpen

The weather in Chicago has been as hot as it’s been in years. With triple-digit temperatures for three straight days, it’s hard to imagine anything hotter than this heat in the Windy City. The Chicago White Sox may be even hotter than that, though. Nate Jones is one of many rookies in the White Sox bullpen. He has earned faith and trust, but the Sox likely need to shore up the...

Inconsistent but Immensely Talented Viciedo Giving White Sox Exactly What They Expected

In his past six at-bats, Dayan Viciedo is 0-6 with six strikeouts. After hitting .206 in April, he hit .351 in May, but then .179 in June. One may see the back-and-forth production from the young right-handed hitter and question his reliability. But given all of the circumstances, Viciedo is giving the White Sox exactly what they expected of him. (Image credit: Jonathan Daniel/Getty...

Chicago White Sox impressive in 19-2 win

It was Kevin Youkilis’ first home game in Chicago and he did not disappoint. Youkilis launched a two-run bomb in his first at-bat and that started a Chicago White Sox slugfest against the Texas Rangers. Youkilis would end up 3-6 with four RBIs. Adam Dunn followed Youkilis’ home run with one of his own, giving the All-Star 25 on the season. The powerful Sox offense got nine earned...

White Sox give Sale an extended break

Tuesday's start against the Texas Rangers was the last start for Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale before the All-Star break, and the lefty made sure it was memorable. Sale went 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on five hits while fanning four in the White Sox's 19-2 win. He lowered his season ERA to 2.19, making the case for Texas manager Ron Washington, who...

White Sox's bullpen walking tightrope with six rookie relievers

At some point, having six rookies in the bullpen will catch up with the White Sox. It didn't Wednesday in the 5-4 extra-inning win against the Texas Rangers. The Sox used three of the rookie relievers in their latest win, with closer Addison Reed getting the win with an inning of work, thanks to a Kevin Youkilis' game-winning single. But the reason they now have six rookies...

Bobby Jenks’ contract is terminated in Boston.

The career of Bobby Jenks got off on the wrong foot when the right-hander was not allowed to play a lot of high school baseball due to his poor academic performance. Book ending that and his release today from the Boston Red Sox has been good times, bad times and more than a couple of rowdy moments. To read this feature, please click the link below.
