Legendary broadcaster Al Michaels was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI in Southern California Friday night, according to Santa Monica police.
Al Michaels is the current play-by-play announcer for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football,” and our generation also knows him as the voice of NFL Monday Night Football. The police said Al Michaels was extremely cooperative with the cops and was released on his own recognizance Saturday morning.
He was arrested shortly before 10 p.m., then spent about five hours in the Santa Monica City Jail. According to CNN, who first broke the story a couple hours ago:
He’s scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. on June 26.
Neither Al Michaels nor NBC had immediate comment.

As one of my followers on Twitter pointed out, Michaels was “Turnt Up” when he was pulled over for DUI. The mugshot seems to confirm what the police at the scene pointed out, that Michaels was a bit tipsy.
